Texas has many rich traditions. Among these is the annual production Fandangle, Texas' oldest outdoor musical in Albany.

Today on Lubbock's First News on KFYO, Susan Montgomery explained how Fandangle is opened each year by a procession of cowboys riding horseback. Many of the cowboys carry flags and the opening event features over 300 actors and actresses. As if this production was not large enough, Montgomery went on to say that Fandangle also showcases the state longhorn herd on stage.

The first show will be on Thursday, June 19th, followed by a parade on Saturday, June 21st. Each of the 6 shows, Thursday through Saturday during the last two weeks of June, is preceded by a barbeque dinner. You can click this link to find out more information about ticket sales.

Those worried about lodging should rest assured that Fandangle does work with the Hotels of Abilene to make sure plenty of lodging is available. "The lodging is somewhat limited in Albany, but we have two hotels in Albany," Montgomery said. "And we work very well with the hotels in Abilene. Abilene is 25 miles from (Albany) and the hotels on this side of town work well with us. If someone needs help with lodging they can call us at 325-762-3838."

Fandangle has been praised by many, including the Dallas Morning News, who stated that Fandangle is "professional as a multimillion dollar Broadway musical with sets and costumes to match." Montgomery hopes that everyone will make it out to observe this event that is certain to be fun for the whole family.
