The family of an Amarillo man who was fatally shot by police has now filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against police.

The civil rights lawsuit filed on behalf of 24-year-old Claudio Trujillo's family accuses police of gross neglegence, excessive force, and failure to properly train officers. The $10 million lawsuit comes after a Potter County grand jury found Amarillo police not guilty.

Trujillo allegedly refused to stop driving towards officers during a fight in downtown Amarillo. He was shot several times and died a few days later in the hospital. Officers say they had no choice but to open fire on Trujillo.
