A cold snap has eased in Texas as officials investigate the deaths of at least five people whose bodies were found outdoors during freezing weather.

The Smith County Sheriff's Office says an 83-year-old woman was found dead Wednesday near Lindale. Authorities believe she wandered outside amid frigid conditions.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office says autopsy results were pending Thursday on a woman found dead a day earlier at a Dallas Area Rapid Transit bus stop, with her wheelchair nearby. An autopsy was pending on a homeless man found dead in Dallas.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the body of an 82-year-old woman was found Wednesday in some woods and she likely died from exposure. Officials say a homeless man found dead Tuesday in Houston apparently died of exposure.
