Evan Smith Talks Texas Politics, Shares Texas Tribune Mission [INTERVIEW]
On Friday's Chad Hasty Show, Evan Smith, CEO and co-founder of The Texas Tribune joined Chad in the KFYO studio to discuss the latest in Texas news, events and politics, and to talk about his organization's mission to keep Texans informed and engaged.
When asked be Hasty if he had been surprised by the recent announcement that Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus would not be running for reelection, Smith replied,
I was shocked. I'd interviewed Speaker Straus at the Texas Tribune Festival in late September, he gave no indication that this was coming. In fact, the opposite was the case. I got more convinced than ever that he was running for reelection and would run for speaker. Whether or not he would be speaker again, I was certain that he would be in there swinging at the ball.
