Evacuation Order in North Lubbock Reduced by Lubbock Fire Department

The evacuation zone in North Lubbock has been sizably reduced after crews started cleaning up an acid spill.

The evacuation area has been reduced to an area bounded by Ash Avenue (east), Erskine (north), IH27 (west), and Massengale Drive (south). The evacuation order for the Guadalupe Neighborhood has been lifted according to the Lubbock Fire Department.

Clean up of the spill may take up to two days. A team from Dallas was called in to help the clean up at the Bayer Crop Science Facility in the 100 block of Erskine.

The spill was first discovered around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night and the evacuation of the area took place after midnight on Thursday.
