A notable southern gospel group will perform at an area university in early May.

Ernie Haase and Signature Sound will perform at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview on Friday, May 9th.

The group, which includes Wayland graduate Paul Harkey as bass singer, will perform at 7 p.m. in the Harral Auditorium on the Wayland Baptist University campus in Plainview. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. and the group will meet the public at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students age 17 and under. They can be purchased by calling 806-291-3603 or by emailing andrewsd@wbu.edu. They can also be purchased at the Trinity Building at 9th and Utica at the school’s north entrance in Plainview, and by cash or check at Happy State Bank at Olton Road and Ennis in Plainview.

All seats are general admission, and proceeds from the event will benefit the general scholarship fund at Wayland.

The group’s founder, Ernie Haase, was a long-time member of the Cathedral Quartet, headed by his father-in-law, the late George Younce.
