Texas Tech was leading West Virginia, and quite frankly dominating, late in the 3rd quarter when they scored on a five-play, 80-yard drive that consisted of four rushes for 58 yards. That touchdown drive made the score 35-17.

The Red Raiders would then miss a field goal, punt three times and throw an interception on their final five possessions of the game, all while WVU scored four touchdowns, a two-point conversion and lined up in the victory formation.

The West Virginia Mountaineers were favored to win the game in Morgantown, but for the Red Raiders to be shut out in the 4th quarter and blow an 18-point lead, this feels like an enormous loss for the Texas Tech football team.

Michael Barden didn't miss his only field goal during the collapse; he missed two others in the 1st half to total three missed kicks and nine points left on the board.

Keke Coutee and Quan Shorts also dropped touchdown opportunities, and in the moment, this really seems like a game that Texas Tech gave away by missing a plethora of opportunities in the second half.

The Texas Tech defense looked electric at times, allowing only 44 yards rushing. But they absolutely looked lost against Will Grier in the 4th quarter. Grier ended the day 32-41 for 352 yards and five touchdowns.

Possibly the worst stat of the day was the 16 penalties Texas Tech had for 156 yards.

The best stat is that Texas Tech finished with 190 rushing yards on 33 rushes.

The loss puts Texas Tech at 4-2, and in a solid position for Bowl game eligibility.

The team will keep playing. The season didn't end today.
