A fundraiser to help complete the restoration project of a historic Lubbock house is underway.

Civic Lubbock, Inc. recently kicked off an engraved brick sale to help raise funds needed to complete the J.I. Allison House Restoration Project.

The project is the restoration of the childhood home of J.I. Allison, who was the drummer for Buddy Holly and the Crickets. Holly and Allison wrote a number of their hit songs at the home, including “That’ll be the Day.”

The house has been relocated to its permanent site at the Buddy Holly Center, and is tentatively expected to be completed in early spring of 2013, but more funds are needed.

A four-inch by eight-inch brick is available for purchase for $100, or a 12-inch by 12-inch tile is available for purchase for $500.

The engraved bricks and tile will be located in the sidewalks surrounding the house.

Forms are available at www.civiclubbock.com, or by visiting the Civic Lubbock office inside the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center at 1501 Mac Davis Lane or the Buddy Holly Center, located at 19th Street and Crickets Avenue.
