A local business is being accused of selling synthetic marijuana.

According to KAMC News, Tuesday morning the Lubbock County District Attorney’s Office executed a search warrant at the Elemental Trading Company on the 7000 block of University.

During the search, investigators said they uncovered and confiscated several packages of synthetic marijuana. The shop was closed for awhile, but no one was arrested.

On June 6th, District Attorney Matt Powell hand delivered a letter to over 50 shops throughout Lubbock regarding new regulations of synthetic pot.

The letter outlined that since synthetic marijuana does not include a list of ingredients, it violates Texas Penal Code and is considered Deceptive Business Practice. If a person is injured or killed as a result of using the drug, the store owner who sold them the product could be held responsible.
