Dustin Burrows Shares Hopes For Non-Divisive Speaker And GOP Unity In Next Texas Legislature [INTERVIEW]
On Thursday's edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Texas District 83 Representative Dustin Burrows joined Chad in the KFYO studio to talk about the processes involved in selecting a new Speaker of the House of Representatives in the Texas legislature, what qualities he would like to see in the new speaker, as well as other topics.
While speaking about the leadership qualities he would like to see in people being considered to be the next speaker, Burrows said,
Everybody who says they want to run for speaker, I have a question for them. I want to know: If they can't get the majority support of the caucus, are they going to drop out? Or are they going to take it to the floor and try to divide us? And to be real honest with you Chad, I don't think anybody who's willing to take it to the floor and divide our caucus, and doesn't care to have the support of the majority of the caucus, I'm just not so sure that I want them as the next speaker of the House. And I'm going to ask them that question, and hopefully they'll answer that publicly as well.
