On Wednesday's edition of the Chad Hasty Show, Dr. Benmamin Powell, director of the Free Market Institute (FMI), gave the details of this month's public speaking event to be hosted on the Texas Tech campus. The FMI sets up about three guest speakers per semester. The guest for the upcoming event is Dr. Walter Williams, to speak on the role of government in a free society.

The FMI was established last January through a grant offered by a West Texas Rancher who said, "[T]his country is going in the wrong direction. Our government is getting increasingly bigger, our economic freedoms are shrinking, and worst yet young people don't understand the benefits of a private enterprise system and how it leads to prosperity." The FMI works to remedy this.

The event will be held in the Allen Theatre in the Student Union Building on Campus. It will take place from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, following a book signing by Williams from 4:45 pm to 5:15 pm. The event is free and open to the public, with no ticket required for entry.
