Monday on The Chad Hasty Show, Chad was joined by Dr. Hadley Arkes, founder and director of the James Wilson Institute on Natural Rights and the American Founding.

Dr. Arkes talked about his organization and it's purpose, which is to educate Americans about the natural rights upon which the United States and it's Constitution were founded.

Speaking about the topic of his upcoming presentation at The Museum of Texas Tech, Dr. Arkes said,

The country didn't begin with the Constitution. And the Constitution is not the source of the principals that mark this Constitution. So it's a way of trying to bring us back to the understanding of the founders, who were there before the Constitution, who drew upon those principals as they made the Constitution. One of the problems of today is that people just latch on to the Constitution, what they think is the Constitution, and they read it without those underlying principles. So what we're going to be doing is trying to recall how that first generation of founders made their way back to those principals.

Dr. Arkes continued talking about how 'Obamacare' not only violates Constitutional principals, but also violates natural rights that apply even without the Constitution.

Arkes and Hasty also discussed how the topic applies to abortion and right to life, in light of the current controversy and debate surrounding public funding of Planned Parenthood.

Dr. Arkes will be speaking @  the Museum of Texas Tech in the Helen DeVitt Jones Auditorium on Thursday September 17 at 1:30 p.m.
