One of the world’s leading pediatric neurosurgeons will speak at an event for a Lubbock private school.

Southcrest Christian School welcomes Dr. Ben Carson for “Dessert with Dr. Ben Carson” on June 28th at the Lubbock Civic Center at 7 p.m.

Dr. Carson is head of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University and one of the most highly sought after speakers in the country this year.

Carson is in the political spotlight this year after his speech at CPAC and his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast talking about the state of the country spiritually and politically.

Dr. Carson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008 by President George W. Bush and his life was made into the movie Gifted Hands in 2009 where he was portrayed by the actor Cuba Gooding, Jr.
