Doctor Benjamin Powell of the Free Market Institute at Texas Tech Discusses the Economic Aspects of the Proposed Smoking Ban in Lubbock [AUDIO]

Jody Smyers – KFYO.com

On Monday’s edition of the Chad Hasty Show on KFYO, Doctor Benjamin Powell of the Free Market Institute at Texas Tech University discussed the economic aspects of the proposed smoking ban in Lubbock.

Powell spoke about the freedom that business owners should have to choose what they do and do not allow in their establishments. He says that the free market should be the regulating force behind business owner’s decisions, not legislation.

“This is the type of freedom that we used to have all over this country”, said Powell.

Doctor Powell also addressed the legislation and calls for regulation of “e-cigarettes”, saying that they are a wonderful invention and provide a way for people who are legitimately at risk of getting cancer from their smoking habits to receive their nicotine in a more healthy way, without spilling second hand smoke over to others.
