More and more counties around Texas are banning the use of fireworks since the July 4th holiday is right around the corner. Just the other day Harris county announced a ban on fireworks and now we are hearing more and more counties on the South Plains and in the Panhandle are doing the same. Lubbock County Commissioners will be meeting soon to discuss prohibiting the sale and use of fireworks.

We are very, very dry here on the South Plains and mother nature isn't helping things at all. High winds and extreme heat are also contributing to the problem. So, what should the commissioners do?
