At last night's Lubbock City Council meeting, citizens spoke out in favor and against a controversial process called hydraulic fracturing. The process is better known as "fracking" and has been happening around the United States for a while now. The technique is used to release natural gas or oil by using a pressurized fluid to fracture rock. Those who oppose it worry about the environmental impact on water and the possibility of earthquakes. Supporters point to the economic benefits of fracking.
