Last Thursday, the Lubbock City Council voted to raise electric rates by 9.7%. The change in rates will take effect on June 1st. Mayor Glen Robertson voted against the rate increase though he did agree that eventually an increase would be needed. According to the Mayor, the consultants that were hired to exam LP&L's financially situation recommended a rate increase to take effect on October 1st. Council members went against the suggestion and voted to raise rates starting next month.

What do you think about the council's actions?
