Death of Man Found Floating in Lubbock Playa Lake Could be Accidental

The death of a man found floating in a Lubbock playa lake could be accidental.

48-year-old Michael Wayland of Lubbock was found floating in the lake at Miller Park in the Melonie Park South Neighborhood near 78^th Street and Memphis Avenue.

Lubbock Police found Wayland’s bicycle and personal items at the lake.

Wayland’s body was discovered in the water around 5 p.m. Sunday. There has been no word yet as to how long he had been in the water.
