David Trout, the man who hosted a popular karaoke show in Lubbock for 15 years, has passed away.

Skooners' Facebook page broke the news of Trout's passing on its Facebook page Thursday night:

It is with saddened hearts that the Skooners family has learned of the passing of a Lubbock legend and our dear friend, David Trout. While our hearts hurt tremendously, we are incredibly lucky to have had David be apart of our work and personal lives for over 15 years. The David Trout Karaoke show at Skooners is something that will surely stay close to the community- we appreciate all the kind and loving words and e-mails that we have received. He was family to us, but also family to all of you.

We would like to share a couple of things: On Friday, November 7, 2014 and Saturday, November 8, 2014 Skooners - Bar & Grill will be honoring David by hosting the David Trout Memorial Karaoke Show and Benefit. Starting at 10:30 pm on both evenings, we are inviting everyone to come by and sing their favorite tunes! We are encouraging everyone who comes in to wear their version of David's signature Hawaiian lei and bring in any David Trout memorabilia that you would like to share stories about. While the passing of such a great man pulls at our heart strings, we all know that David would want everyone to be happy, sing some songs, and have a good time. To help with the cost of arrangements and living costs for his family, Skooners staff will be taking donations to put towards the expenses at hand. Every cent, hug, dollar, and smile helps.

Our staff would also like to thank YOU ALL for supporting David's show for so many years. From Chelsea's Pub to Scuttlebutt's to Skooners, David NEVER knew a stranger, and we were all so incredibly lucky to have known his sweet soul.

While we leaving arrangement times to be disclosed by immediate family, if you have any questions about the David Trout Memorial Karaoke Show, please do not hesitate to call (806) 749-7625 or (806) 773-4997.

Sending good vibes, prayers, thoughts, and hugs to you all,
the Skooners Crew.

Trout's own Facebook page filled up with posts from Lubbockites who shared their memories of the local karaoke legend.
