State Senator Dan Patrick has been elected Lt. Governor of Texas.

According to the Office of the Secretary of State, Patrick earned 57 percent of the vote as of 9:42 p.m., while opponent Leticia Van de Putte saw 39 percent.

Patrick will serve as Lt. Governor under governor-elect Greg Abbott, who won his race against Wendy Davis.

In a video released Tuesday night titled "Grassroots Victory," Patrick thanks voters for turning out and thanked God for his victory.
