Multiple tornadoes have touched down in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex today as severe thunderstorms move across the region. Several highly populated areas have sustained considerable damage during the storms, with nine cities reporting substantial damage as of 5:45p Tuesday.

No fatalities have been reported as of 5:00pm Tuesday. Search and rescue teams are on the ground across the region. Extensive damage has been reported along 287 south in Arlington and near Cleburn.

The Salvation Army in Arlington has set up an emergency shelter at 712 W. Abrams Street. An emergency shelter in Dallas has been set up at  Kiest Place at 3080 S. Hampton in Dallas.

The Lubbock Salvation Army and Red Cross is on standby in case their help is required. If you have family or close friends in the area and are concerned, visit the Red Cross Safe and Well registration website and search for them by name or address.

6:20p: Lubbock Red Cross announces its planned evening departure to DFW to aid with rescue and relief efforts.

5:47p: Governor Rick Perry announces Texas State Operations Center has been activated to help affected areas.

5:30p: DFW Airport spokesperson reports 110 aircraft damaged due to severe weather. City of Dallas reporting over 100 homes damaged according to WFAA. 1,500 customers reported without electricity in Dallas.

5:09p: Mayor of Lancaster announces 300 damaged structures counted within the city. Announces areas between Telephone Rd. in the north, Bayport in the south, Pebble Beach to the east and Sunny Meadow to the west of Lancaster too dangerous to enter.

4:45p: Greenville under tornado emergency in Hunt County. Homes destroyed along Poetry Road near Royse City. Several buildings reported collapsed in Kennedale.

3:45p: Crosby Elementary, Forney High School in Forney and at least 20 homes sustain substantial tornado damage.

3:00p: 18 wheelers were lifted off the ground at truck stops in southern Dallas County. Addison tornado heads towards Plano. Arlington and Lancaster declared disaster areas.

2:45p: Tornado touchdown in Addison.

2:30p: American Airlines cancels all flights to and from the DFW Airport. Love Field evacuates to first and underground floors under instruction from FAA. Baseball sized hail reported near Coppel, and damaged trees and structures reported within the Metroplex.

2:05p: A large super-cell thunderstorm moves across Arlington near Cowboys Stadium, Rangers Ballpark and Six Flags Over Texas. No severe damages reported to the structures.

1:15: WBAP reporting that two tornadoes have been spotted in eastern Dallas County and the storm south of DFW Airport is showing signs of rotation.
