Dallas Inmate Escapes During Courthouse Flood
A teenage inmate in jail for a suspected misdemeanor charge now faces more serious charges after escaping a Dallas courthouse during a flood. 17-year-old Juan Ramires was part of an inmate crew working to mop up water leftover from a broken pipe Thursday.
The broken water main flooded the first floor of the Dallas County Criminal Courthouse with 3 inches or so of water. Elevators and escalators were disabled.
Ramires walked away from the cleanup crew he was assigned to and now most likely faces a third degree felony charge of escape. He was originally jailed for failing to identify himself to a state trooper.
