Covenant Health System is reminding the public of a campaign to help provide child patients with items to keep them occupied during their time at the hospital.

The Training and Development Department of Covenant decided to adopt Covenant Children’s Hospital as a yearly community service project, dubbed the Knipling Krayola Kids Campaign.

Before the campaign, the hospital had a difficult time furnishing items to entertain the kids, including crayons. Since the creation of the campaign, the Knipling Center staff has raised over $80,000, enough to purchase every item from a “wish list” from the hospital’s child life specialist.

Now, the group is designating funds to start the Knipling Medication Fund, providing qualifying pediatric patients with help in purchasing life-saving medications.

This year, the program is hosting a benefit drawing, and all are invited to purchase tickets in the Covenant cafeteria on either campus or at the Knipling Center for one dollar. Items from many Lubbock businesses, including Bolton’s Oil, the TTU Alumni Association, Walgreens, J. Bailey Wireless, and Southwest Airlines.

The drawing will take place on Friday, May 27th. For more information, contact Terrie Krueger at 765-0633.
