The city is considering shutting down some of Lubbock’s pools under the Stage 2 water restrictions, which are going into effect on April 1st. Right now, the choices are to close two of the city pools that do not run on well water, or to close all 4 pools down in the interest of fairness. But Councilman Beane offered a different alternative.
“Let’s drill 2 wells…at the other 2 pools and the other 2 parks where the pools are located.”
According to Beane, the process of drilling wells could be completed in the 120 days before the restrictions take effect, so long as the city acts quickly, and the city has enough money to drill.
As far as the issue of voting on the pools, Beane said he would side with Councilman Floyd Price and vote to close down all 4 pools.
