Monday on The Chad Hasty Show U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) joined the show to talk with Hasty about the looming and bitterly contested presidential election, the ramifications of the news that the FBI is reopening the investigation into Democrat candidate Hilary Clinton's email, and other topics surrounding the election.

While answering Hasty's question as to the reason the investigation had been reopened, Cornyn replied, "With this new evidence rising I don't think [FBI Director James Comey] had any choice but to reopen the investigation and to look into the evidence."

As to why the email scandal has grown to be such a large topic and possible factor in the election, Cornyn said,

In the end, Mrs. Clinton's got nobody to blame but herself for all this mess that she's brought along with her, like a black cloud that seems to follow the Clintons around.

Hasty asked Cornyn if he thought there was a possibility of the new investigation being completed by election day, to which Cornyn replied, "No, this is not going to be wrapped up in the next seven days."

Cornyn and Hasty also discussed how the scandal might play out if in fact Clinton were to be elected to the White House, Supreme Court nominations, and whether Cornyn believes the GOP will retain control of the U.S. Senate.
