On Tuesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Connie Wharton, co-chair of Imagine Lubbock Together, talked with Chad Hasty and Rex Andrew about the future of Lubbock.

Imagine Lubbock Together is a long-term visioning and planning project, whose goal is to create a long-term plan for how Lubbock will look in the next 10-20 years. Wharton says the long-term plan involves not only the current plans for such places at Texas Tech University and Downtown Lubbock, but also strongly encourages citizens to take an active role in planning.

Wharton invites everyone to attend one of the 4 public "idea gathering" meetings taking place this week. The first meeting will take place tonight, September 11th, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Irons Middle School. Two meetings will take place on Wednesday, September 12th; the first from 9:30-11:30 AM at the Lubbock Civic Center, and the second from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Cavazos Middle School. The last meeting will be Friday, September 13th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Coronado High School.
