Here are just a few things in Chad’s Pile that you will hear on Lubbock’s First News this morning. Give Chad your feedback on the steaming topics.

1. U.S. Rep. Ron Paul won't run for re-election (link)

It looks like it's the White House or nothing at all for Congressman Ron Paul. On Tuesday, Ron Paul tweeted the following message to his followers:

"I have decided not to seek re-election to Congress."

The Texas Tribune has the details why;

The 24-year veteran of the U.S. House of Representatives told them he planned on devoting more time to his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. "I felt it was better that I concentrate on one election," he said. "It’s about that time when I should change tactics."

The announcement came as a surprise to many since it didn't seems as though he was ready to leave. What do you think about this?

2. Obama can't guarantee Social Security checks (link)

You know how the government said that we still had years to fix Social Security? Well, according to the President, years really means August 2nd. In an interview with CBS News, Obama uses a new scare tactic:

"I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven't resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it," Mr. Obama said in an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley, according to excerpts released by CBS News.

So is the President lying now or has the government been lying for a while now about how solvent Social Security is? I say, both.

3. Two If By Tea is good (link)

Yesterday afternoon, KFYO Program Director, Robert Snyder and I had a taste test in the KFYO studios of Rush Limbaugh's new iced tea called, Two If By Tea. I am always a bit skeptical of celebrity drinks. I was worried about Jimmy Buffet's Landshark Beer, but it was good. So I went into this with an open mind and I'm telling you, it was pretty good. We tried the Diet Original Tea and it was pretty tasty. I normally prefer sweet tea, but this tasted good. I recommend you trying some!
