On Monday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Congressman Randy Neugebauer talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about the latest going on in Washington.

With a new bi-partisan immigration bill announced this week, immigration has become a major topic of discussion in Washington. However, Neugebauer said that immigration is often lumped together with border protection, even though they are actually two different issues.

"Our country was built on immigration. We have people that have immigrated from literately all over the world, and this collage of people from all over the world is what really has made America great. Then, the other issue is making sure our borders are secure, not necessarily just from people trying to sneak into our country, but also the things people might try to bring to our country. so, the immigration issue to me is talking about the legal way we bring people into this country."

As far as the issue of border protection, Neugebauer said that we should use any and all resources at our disposal to protect our borders.

Neugebauer also talked about the Pentagon's decision to relax the regulations on women in combat, saying that it will be up to the military to figure out how best to integrate women into the front lines. He also discussed the possibility of women in selective service.
