Neugebauer said that last night speech was, unsurprisingly, very liberal and progressive, and that all the President want to do was increased government spending and government influence all around.
“Basically what [Obama] said last night is that we’re going to have more taxes, we’re going to have more spending, and we’re going to have more government. And he continues to say that that’s the way we fix the economy. And what we know is all we’ve gotten out of this President with these kinds of programs is almost 5 trillion dollars in debt.”
One of the more troubling things Neugebauer found in last night’s speech was the idea to raise the minimum wage salary to $9 a hour. Neugebauer contended that every economist he’s spoken to has said this is a bad idea for businesses who are already laying off people they can’t afford as it is. He predicted that this measure would not get a lot of support in the House, if any at all. Neugebauer also discussed other issues brought up in the speech, such as immigration and energy.
