"Have a safe and wonderful fourth.”

That was the reaction from county commissioner Mark Heinrich after commissioners voted against a new fireworks ban.  The decision came after commissioners heard from  Clinton Thetford, the county’s emergency management coordinator.

“If you look at the long-term drought indices, we’re still considered to be in an extreme drought," Thetford said.  " I think most of Texas is in that same category.  Short-term, we’ve really caught up on a lot of our rainfall and are looking a lot better, and hope and pray we continue to receive some rainfall."
