Chad, I completely agree with you here. Im 20 and attend Texas A&M, I know thats not your favorite university. My schools administration and much of the teaching staff have voice the very same "concerns" you cited. I dont live in fear of being a victim on or off campus, but I relize that it is up to me to protect myself and as soon as I turn 21 I plan to get my CHL and ofcourse carry. Its my right and I plan to exercise it.

The bigger issue at hand, why should a state institution have different laws than any other state institution?
I do not sit in class in fear of a campus shooting in Lubbock Texas, however the other daily crime that occurs on and around campus is what I fear as I leave the library at 1 or 2 in the morning walking to my truck.

Imagine, just for a moment, if a white city commissioner had stood up and yelled "you are all Black...go to hell." Please, dont just read over that quote. Read it one more time. "you are all black...go to hell"
As for the citizen, who was white, he called Price a Mullah. Mullah is an authoritarian dictator within the religion of Islam. You might call someone a mullah if they are power hungry, bossy, contrilling, harsh with the law or any number of things.... but it has no connection with race. Religion....perhaps, but race...no! This is a time when Islamic terrist are a very dark force in our every day lives. The inner workings of Islam and its titles and power structure are now as common and well know as those of say, the babtist. Calling someone a Mullah as a veiled insult is by no means extreme. I guess you could call it rude, but not racist.
I grow weary of being called racist because I am white. It is becoming a little like the boy who cried wolf. "Racist" is being thrown at anyone white, conservitive, anti-Obama, tea party supportive or countless other things.
I grow weary of black racism being given a pass. If you are an elected black official you can tell white people to go to hell. If you are a black panther you can stand outside of voting centers with military clothing and wield a baton. If you are black you can stand on a street corner with a megaphone and shout "we gonna haf to kill us some crackers" You can join an official government group that allows only black congress members. If you are black you can call people a nigger. If you are black you can make racist comments against jews. If you are a black mayor, you can say "this will once again be a chocklate city" You can get a job or get a higher education based on the fact that you are black (at the expense of qualified job or education seekers who are not black) , watch all black tv channels or win a beauty contest open only to black girls. In the words of Bill Cosby, "come on people"
I feel that so called "Black Leadership" serves the black community poorly. Dr. King dreamed of a time when men would be judged by the content of their character not by the color of thier skin, yet at every turn we have affirmitive action, United Negro College fund, The Congressional Black Caccous, Miss Black America, Black Entertainment Telivision, and this happens to be febuary, Black HIstory Month.
Dont you see, that is the problem. African American. No...! You are not african american....you are AMERICAN...!!!!
Affirmitive action. Your government is saying that you as a Black man are not good enough to fgind a job so the government will help.
I could go on and on but it is almost time for supper. But I will leave you with this parting shot. I am a white Man. The love of my life who i will eat with shortly is a black woman. We didnt need a program to hook us up...it just happened.

Hey Goggin, it must be nice to sit around and troll the internet for Blogs and News stories that dare to tell the truth of what actually happened. You fail to mention in any of your posts that wind dropped off 2585 MW from 3 PM Tuesday to 6 AM Wednesday when it was needed the most. That is a 41% drop off in production. This is not new to the ERCOT system. They were able to keep out of the public eye in February of 2008 when they dumped their interruptible load to keep the system intact because wind dropped off about the same amount. If ERCOT keeps dumping their Loads Acting as Resources, the interruptible customers will leave the program, necessitating another 1000MW of reliable generation. Furthermore, the 7,000 MW of "fossil fuel" generation that tripped out represented 13% of ERCOT's load at 6AM Wednesday. If "fossil fuel" generation behaved like wind and 43% was lost, all three levels of underfrequency load shedding would have fired and it is very likely ERCOT would have been instituting their black start procedures by 7AM. Now, don't you look stupid?

P.S. I wouldn't believe a thing that Trip Doggett has to say about wind. You people have had a gun to ERCOT's head for many moons.

There is something drastically wrong with leaders that won't lead! The charter is not complicated. The right decision, more often than not, is the difficult one to make. If leading were easy, we wouldn't need leaders at all.

VH paid up once he was informed of the error. It would be irresponsible for the city to call a special election, because of cost and government disruption, when the city(city secretary and city attorney)has some culpability for not notifying VH or any other candidate regarding all city charter requirements nor enforcing same over the years.

Some say Lawyers try to do anything to get by with whatever they can.
Go KFYO there is a lot of dirt to be dug up with a spoon or bulldozer on soon city happening. $10,000 per square foot to repave 34th st. is obscene.

Hey guys, you may want to hear what the head of Texas's grid operator said today. ERCOT CEO Trip Doggett: "I'm not aware of any nuclear plant problems, and I'm not aware of any specific issues with wind turbines having to shut down due to icing. I would highlight that we put out a special word of thanks to the wind community because they did contribute significantly through this timeframe. Wind was blowing, and we had often 3,500 megawatts of wind generation during that morning peak, which certainly helped us in this situation."

http://www.texastribune.org/texas-energy/energy/an-interview-with-the-ce...

And what did cause the blackouts? Turns out it was 50 coal and gas power plants that broke down and took 7,000 MW of generation offline. Don't you look stupid.
