Coleman County Man Charged with Destruction of an Aircraft

A Coleman County man is charged in a Federal Indictment with Destruction of an aircraft.

A federal grand jury in Lubbock returned an indictment on Wednesday charging James R. Cate, 68, of Talpa, Texas, with one count of destruction of an aircraft. A summons will be issued for his initial appearance in federal court at a later date yet to be determined.

The indictment alleges that on 29 February of this year that Cate knowingly and willfully damaged an Air Tractor AT502B aircraft, which was a civil aircraft used and employed for interstate commerce.

The investigation is being conducted with the FBI and FAA and will be prosecuted by Deputy Criminal Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise Williams.
