An Instagram account called morson_theclown posted a creepy message about Texas' Crosby County and sinister emojis this week, leading some local families to fear for their safety.

According to Everything Lubbock, the Instagram account, which appears to have been deleted, had the following phrase in its bio: "Die or die. Texas is nice. Blood is nicer." The phrase was followed by a lollipop and knife emoji.

Two other pictures were uploaded to the account. One with the phrase, "Are you ready?" and the other reading, "See you on Friday Crosbyton and Ralls." The latter also included an emoji of a knife and a lollipop.

Ralls Independent School District Superintendent Chris Wade told Everything Lubbock that he believes the messages were just meant to cause trouble ahead of Friday night's football game between the Ralls Jack Rabbits and Crosbyton Chiefs.

Wade said he doesn't think the threats are credible, but added that both Ralls ISD and Crosbyton ISD have contacted law enforcement and provided evidence for an investigation. Both districts will be cautious, Wade added.

This week alone, at least two clown sightings have been reported in Lubbock.

A call was made to Lubbock police Tuesday night about a clown seen outside Rush Elementary School. And on Monday night, Texas Tech campus police received a call about a clown sighting at Chitwood Hall. In both incidents, no clown was located.

A clown was also photographed in a Levelland park.

Lt. Ray Mendoza with the Lubbock Police Department has asked citizens who see a clown to simply contact police if they feel threatened of uncomfortable.
