Clovis police are searching for an inmate that escaped from their municipal court.

Officers from Clovis, New Mexico are searching for 40-year-old Ruben Hernandez, who escaped from the Clovis Municipal Court just after 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 11th.

Hernandez was being held in the Curry County Detention Center on charges of Robbery and Illegal Possession of a Firearm. He also had outstanding charges in Clovis Municipal Court.

During the hearing at the municipal court, Hernandez ran from the courtroom. Clovis police believe that Hernandez entered a nearby residence, changed his clothing, and potentially armed himself with a rifle.

Hernandez is described as a Hispanic male, standing 5’9”, weighing 165 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes. He is believed to be wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, and blue high-top shoes.

He is considered armed and dangerous. Hernandez may be carrying an SKS rifle.
