Clovis Police Officer Shoots Suspect Fleeing from Crime Scene

A Clovis man is in critical condition after being shot by a police officer. 23-year-old Paul Villanueva was shot once by a Clovis police officer in an alleyway Thursday. He was fleeing the scene of an unspecified crime at the time of the shooting.

The identity of the officer has not been released. The officer has been placed on administrative leave while a multi-agency investigation is preformed.

Villanueva was taken to the Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, and then transferred to a Texas hospital for recovery.
