A City of Lubbock department will host a summer job fair later this month.

Parks and Recreation will be holding a Summer Job Fair for hiring seasonal summer staff on Thursday, May 15th, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The job fair will take place at the Parks and Recreation office, located at 1611 10th Street.

Part-time positions available include summer camp counselors, lifeguards, cashiers, concession attendants, and pool laborers.

All positions require a criminal background check and drug screening.

Applications may be completed in advance at www.ci.lubbock.tx.us or online at the time of the job fair.

Qualified individuals will be screened, hired, and processed at the time of the job fair.

Summer camp counselor applicants must be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. They must be able to swim, and work consecutively from May 27th through August 22nd. Applicants must also be willing to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.

Lifeguard applicants must be 16 years of age or older at the time of hire, and experience as a lifeguard is preferred, but not required. Applicants must be American Red Cross certified in CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding. All certifications must be obtained prior to being hired, and proof of current enrollment in class or certifications must be turned in with the application.

Cashiers and concession attendant applicants must be 16 years of age or older, and have the ability to lift and carry 25 to 50 pounds. Applicants must be able to work between the hours of noon until 7 p.m. daily and on weekends. Cash handling experience is requested but not required.

Pool laborer applicants must be at least 16 years old, and have the ability to lift and carry between 25 to 50 pounds. Applicants must be able to learn to operate pool cleaning equipment, follow safety procedures, and maintain written records.
