Texas Tech has named an interim coach to lead their football team in the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

Tech has named offensive line coach Chris Thomsen as the interim coach to take charge of the team for their bowl in Houston on December 28th.

This is Thomsen’s first year at Texas Tech. He previously served as head football coach at Abilene Christian University for six seasons.

Two coaches also announced that they are leaving Texas Tech as well.

Offensive coordinator Neal Brown and running backs coach Chad Scott are joining the Kentucky Wildcats, and will work in the same positions.

The process to find a new head coach for Tech football to replace outgoing coach Tommy Tuberville is underway.
