Thursday morning (August 3), Lubbock Fire Rescue, the Lubbock Police Department, and EMS responded to a call of a child locked in a car.

KAMC News reports that Fire Rescue and Police responded to the incident around 11 a.m. at South Loop and University Avenue. Officials say that 26-year-old Jacklyn Robledo, the mother of the child, left the child in the car while going into a plasma donation center. Police estimate the child had been alone in the car for 40 minutes or longer.

Witnesses say they found the girl lying down in the back seat while the car was off. One window was cracked open about an inch wide. An employee of the donation center alerted the woman that the child was in the car. The woman explained that the girl was "fine."

The child was taken from the scene by EMS.
