The head of public relations for a business currently embroiled in controversy has died.

Don Perry, who served as the vice president of public relations for Chick-fil-A, died on Friday morning, apparently due to a heart attack, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Perry worked for the company for nearly three decades.

Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy discussed his views opposing gay marriage earlier this month, causing a stir from groups in opposition and in support of Cathy’s opinion.
