State Senator Charles Perry has been appointed to the Senate Committee on Higher Education by Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst.

Perry was appointed in the stead of Robert Duncan – whose Senate District 28 seat he won in a special election after the long serving senator left to assume chancellorship of the Texas Tech University system.

Senator Perry was recently sworn into the legislation Tuesday, September 30, on Texas Tech’s campus. Perry’s staff said they are working diligently to prepare for the upcoming Slegislative session.

In a press release, Perry stated he was honored by the Lieutenant Governor’s selection.

In addition to Texas Tech System, the 51-county district is home to several other highly regarded universities, community colleges and other institutions of higher education. This position will allow me to ensure higher education in our region, big and small, has a strong voice in the Texas Legislature."
