Syam Tax Sevices LLC and two of its officers are facing fraud charges related to a tax service scam.

The tax services company and Shannon Mays and Marchrief Shead have all been faced with charges by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott.

Judge Michael Gomez of the 129th District Court of Harris County also froze Syam’s assets and entered a temporary restraining order upon the company and the two charged company officers.

The scam involved the fraudulent obtaining of elderly Texan’s personal information to falsely file federal income tax returns on the victim’s behalf. The fraudulent tax returns directed the IRS to place a refund into the company’s bank account. When the IRS discovered the discrepancy the agency went after the victim for repayment of the fraudulent tax return.

Due to the findings of an investigation started by Attorney General Abbott it is believed that Syam filed hundreds of these fraudulent returns.
