Four Albertsons stores in New Mexico will now be headed by a new company.

The United Family, dba United Supermarkets, will assume control of Albertsons locations in Carlsbad, Clovis, Hobbs and Roswell, New Mexico in early September. President of The United Family Robert Taylor said the transition represented great business sense.

“With our Lubbock-based distribution center within 200 miles of these cities, we can serve these four stores more efficiently and most effectively,” Said Taylor, “which translates into greater quality on the shelves for our guests.”

The stores will retain the Albertsons logo, and United claims management will remain intact. Operations and distribution will be headed by United however.

“We want to preserve the teams in all of these locations and continue to operate them as Albertsons stores,” Taylor said. “These stores are all high-volume, well-operated stores. Our goal is to maintain their positive performance and, as is true for all of our stores, look for ways to grow that production in the future.”

Earlier in 2014 eight Albertsons in West Texas realigned with The United Family including stored in Abilene, Midland, Odessa and San Angelo.

The United Family was founded in Lubbock in 1916 and became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Albertsons LLC in 2013. They currently operate 68 stores and employ more than 13,000 individuals.
