Chad Hasty Show Person of the Year: Donald Trump

There were many that I could have chosen as Person of the Year, but if I'm honest with myself, Donald Trump is the most obvious choice. Love him or hate him, everyone has been talking about him for months.

Since early July Donald Trump has lead the GOP field in the national polls. Since then it has been predicted by many in the media that Donald Trump would collapse and no one would take him seriously. That has all changed.

Trump has changed the 2016 election and whether that is a good thing or a bad thing has yet to be determined. Trump has shown politicians that many in the Republican party are tired of the same old politicians. This seems to be the year of the fighter and those candidates who don't realize that do so at their own expense.

Trump has dominated "free TV battle" by being the single most talked about candidate in the race. Trump's name is mentioned more than any of the other candidates. The same candidates that were considered the serious candidates by the media are all but ignored.

Simply put, Donald Trump has dominated American politics for over half of 2015. In an era where our attention span lasts about 20-seconds, Donald Trump has been able to dominate our discussions, topics, and news since July.

Impressive.

This of course doesn't mean that Trump is loved by everyone. Whether they will admit it or not, those who hate Trump are still amazed by him and the way he gets away with virtually everything.

FOX News has Trump with 39% support of Republican voters as of 12/19/15. That means he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. There is a real chance that Trump may win the GOP nomination, but even if he doesn't, Trump has left his mark on the race as Republicans are still worried that Trump may run third party.

Trump has also taught candidates that it's okay to show your fighting side and that always being politically correct isn't necessarily a good thing.

Will Donald Trump win the GOP nomination? No one knows right now, but it's foolish not to take him and his supporters seriously.

Merry Christmas!

Today is the final show of the year for me and I just wanted to take some time to say thank you to all of you who read this blog and listen to the show.

2015 was a great year for us on the show and I hope it was a great year for you as well. On the show in 2015, we had a lot of laughs and a lot to debate. Of course there was also a lot... too much really, to get angry about. Even when talking about the stuff that makes us angry though, it is absolutely fantastic to be able to discuss it with you.

Thank you for tuning in this year. I always get a kick out of meeting listeners and learning about those who listen to the show from all over the country. You invite me into your homes, cars, and workplaces and I want you to know that I truly appreciate it. On the show, we always enjoy hearing from our listeners whether it be by phone, text, tweet, or email. You make it a lot of fun to do the show.

As we wrap up the year I hope and pray that each of you will have a blessed 2016. I hope that during this Christmas season, each of you will be able to spend some time with family and friends. I love being around family and friends as being in their presence lifts my spirits. I thank God for my friends and family and my hope is that while we may see despair in the world, you can all find your spirits lifted with your family and your friends.

The rest of 2015, Steve Evans, Paul Beane, and Carl Tepper will be filling in for me on the show. I know they will all do a great job as they always do.

Merry Christmas and God bless!
