Amarillo bound flight from Lubbock Crashes

Three people were killed early this morning when single engine aircraft flying to Amarillo from Lubbock crashed outside of Amarillo.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims.

An 80-year-old Lubbock woman’s death is being blamed on the West Nile Virus, the first death in Lubbock of 2013 attributable to the mosquito-borne virus. 

City health officials said the elderly woman who suffered from previous medical condition, died during the third week of September.
