CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, provides advocates for children who have been removed from abusive or negligent homes. Advocates follow the child throughout the process, from the time they are taken out of the home to the time they are placed in their new permanent homes.
Right now, CASA is in need of around 90 volunteers. Volunteers must be 21 years or older, and must pass a background check and have a driver’s license. Pierce said that volunteers are also encouraged to sign up with friends so that they may work together on cases.
