CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) — Carlsbad Caverns National Park in southeastern New Mexico near the Texas line is open again a day after hazardous roads compelled the park to close.

Park officials say Carlsbad Caverns is open Sunday under its regular winter hours of 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.

Icy roads inside the park and the shutdown of Highway 62-180 south of Carlsbad forced the park to shut down Saturday.

Officials say visitors should be aware that the park's facilities are limited after a main pipeline froze and broke late last week.

Chilling temperatures froze and shattered 1,000 feet of pipe. Officials initially thought only 100 feet of pipe had been damaged.

The park will have portable lavatories in the parking lot and bottled drinking water for employees and visitors
