A three vehicle accident has claimed the lives of two people, including a TxDOT employee yesterday afternoon. A 12-year-old boy was also injured in the crash with serious burns and was lifted by Aero Care to Lubbock.

The accident happened near the town of Tokio, between Brownfield and Plains on U.S. Highway 82/380 around 3 p.m.

KAMC-28 says DPS reported that the TxDOT pickup was westbound on US 82, and crossed into oncoming traffic.

The TxDOT pickup truck ran into a Ford Explorer, which burst into flames, killing the driver and seriously burning the 12-year-old.

The pickup then collided with another car and the driver of the was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. The TxDOT driver died at the scene and names of the victims have not been released.
