After Rick Perry's disastrous lapse of memory during Wednesday's GOP debate, a lot of people are assuming that the governor's chances at the presidential bid are all but gone. But Perry's not giving up. Yesterday, he insisted that he will continue to run in spite of Wednesday's performance. But, does he really have a chance now?

When Rick Perry finally jumped in to the race, I was pretty excited. Here we had this straight-shooting, straight-talking cowboy who wasn't afraid to tell it like it is. However, when it came time for him to debate, he just did not perform as well as everyone thought he would. And unfortunately, his performances just got worse and worse as the debates went on. Now, I'm not sure if Wednesday's debate was the so-called "final nail in the coffin," but it sure didn't help.

At this point, I think Perry has to have his very best performances in the rest of the upcoming debates if he still wants a chance at the nomination.  However, I do think the Perry campaign made a good move to spin the lapse of memory and play it up as a joke. Hey, when you've got the whole country laughing at you, your best bet is to laugh along with them. But it'll take more than a good laugh to save his campaign now.

So, what do you think? Does Rick Perry still have a chance to win the GOP nomination, or it is time for this cowboy to hang up his spurs and call it quits?
