On Tuesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Janice Magnus and Sam Shreffler from the Burkhart Center talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about some upcoming events promoting autism awareness.

April is Autism Awareness Month, and April 2nd is designated as Worldwide Autism Awareness Day. The Burkhart Center will be holding several events this month in recognition of autism awareness. Magnus said one of the biggest events will be the annual Autism Walk on April 28th from 2 PM to 4 PM at Jones SBC Stadium. Online registration is available at their website.

Magnus added that the center will also be hosting their first-ever style show on April 16th, sponsored by Dillard's.

Magnus also brought in one of the students from the center: Sam Shreffler. Shreffler, who suffers from autism, garnered fame last year for his audition on the FOX television show, "So You Think You Can Dance?"
