Burial service for Lubbock student

Southcrest Christian High School

Funeral services for the former Southcrest Christian High school student who died in an altercation with a Liberty University, VA campus police officer last week, will be held tomorrow.

19-year-old Joshua Hathaway will be buried tomorrow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park following a memorial service at the Southcrest Baptist Church.

Police at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Hathaway, who was a freshman at Liberty University.

Police say that after a short conversation with a campus police officer Hathaway attacked the officer with a hammer, and the officer had to shoot Hathaway to defend himself.

The incident took place near campus in the lobby of a women’s dormitory.
